Empire Township Open House, March 3, 2009
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, the Planning Commission of Empire Township will host a public Open House at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Empire Town Hall, 3385-197th Street, to informally review plans by Rational Energies, a Minnesota Limited Liability Corporation, for a biomass gasification facility proposed to be located in the southwest quadrant of the interchange of County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 46 and US Trunk Highway (TH) 52. The proposed facility is designed to use refuse-derived fuel and agricultural residue as feedstock in the manufacturing of renewable, clean diesel (RC Diesel).
The Planning Commission has also scheduled a series of public hearings, beginning at 8:00 p.m. on the same evening to consider the following:
HEARING #1. The purpose of this hearing is to consider amending the Empire Township Comprehensive Plan by establishing a new industrial land use designation for alternative energy production/manufacturing facilities in an area of the Township generally described as the North Half of the East Three Quarters of the Southeast Quarter (N 1/2 of E 3/4 of SE 1/4) of Section 1, Township 114, Range 19, and located near the southwest quadrant of the CSAH 46/TH 52 interchange. Consideration will also be given to create a highway commercial land use district on a portion of the above described property located east of Clayton Avenue.
HEARING #2. The purpose of this hearing is to consider amending the Empire Township Zoning Ordinance by establishing a new zoning district which will allow biomass gasification facilities or similar alternative energy production facilities. Consideration will also be given for establishing a new highway commercial zoning district which will allow convenience commercial uses serving the highway user, area businesses and residents.
All interested parties are urged to attend these hearings or submit written comment to be read at the hearings. Notice is also given, the Empire Board of Supervisors will also be in attendance at the open house and public hearings.
