April 10

Stations of the cross

Faith United Methodist Church will present a live-action stations of the cross at 6:30 p.m. Good Friday, April 10. The displays will resemble living paintings.

Passion of the Christ

The River Church in Farmington will present a free screening of Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" at 7 p.m. p.m. Good Friday, April 10. The public is invited to attend. The church is located at 408 Third St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Movies for kids

The Farmington Public Library invites children of all ages to movies for kids from 10:30 to 11 a.m. April 10. The April 10 movie is Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.

April 11

Easter carnival

The Castle Rock, Empire, Eureka and Farmington Area Enhancement Group will hold its annual Easter carnival from 10 a.m. to noon April 11 in the community education wing of Meadowview Elementary School. Kids can get their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny.

Colon cancer fundraiser

There will be a fundraiser beer bash from 6 to 9 p.m. April 11 at the Farmington American Legion to benefit the Colon Cancer Coalition. Tickets are available in advance or at the door.

The American Legion is located at 10 Eighth St.

April 14

Library secrets revealed

The Dakota County Farmington Library will offer a Library Secrets Revealed class from 6 to 8 p.m. April 14. Participants will learn about new resources and how to use the library's online catalog and other electronic tools. There will be a tour of the library after the class. Classes are free but require registration.

Cheerleading meeting

The Farmington High School fall football cheerleaders will hold a pre-season meeting at 7 p.m. April 16 in the FHS commons. Students in eighth to 11th grades and their parents are invited to attend.

Wii at the library

The Dakota County Farmington Library invites teens to visit the library from 3 to 5 p.m. April 16 to play Wii games on the library's big screen.

Veterans' memorial meeting

The Farmington Area Veterans' Memorial planners will meet at 6 p.m. April 16 at the shelter at Rambling River Park. Anyone interested in helping with the project is welcome.

College funding workshop

Parents are invited to a workshop on paying for college from 6 to 7 p.m. April 16 at Farmington Lutheran Church. Representatives from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Augsburg College will talk about to build a college plan that reflects family values and takes advantage of tax incentives, financial aid and other resources. The event is free.

Christian Life open house

Christian Life School will hold its annual academic fair and open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 16. The open house begins at 5:30. The academic fair begins at 6:30. The fair is an opportunity for students from first through 12th grade to exhibit a project they've created.

Swedish folk music

The Dakota County Library will present Flickorna Fem -- The Five Girls -- at 2 p.m. April 18. The group will perform traditional Swedish folk music. The performance is part of the library's annual Minnesota Mosaic cultural arts series. The performance is free.

Waggin' Tales

Kids can practice their reading skills by reading to therapy dogs from 10:30 a.m. to noon April 18 at the Farmington Public Library.

Baby storytime

The Farmington Public Library will offer storytime for babies up to 24 months from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. April 24. Storytimes include stories, songs, bounces and playtime.

April 25

April Fair

Trinity Lutheran Church will hold its April Fair from 5 to 7 p.m. April 25 at the church, located at the corner of Sixth and Walnut streets. The church will serve its "famous" Dakota County Fair hot beef sandwiches and will hold a white elephant sale and bake sale. Tickets will be available at the door.

Mayoral ball

The Castle Rock, Empire, Eureka and Farmington Area Enhancement Group will present the mayoral Black and White Ball from 8 p.m. to midnight April 25 at the Grand Hall ballroom. The Rockin' Hollywoods will perform.

Trinity Care Center will hold a volunteer appreciation social at 1:30 p.m. April 25. There will be live entertainment and food.

Applause Community Theater will hold auditions for its summer show, "The Wizard of Oz," from 6 to 9 p.m. April 27 and 28 at the Lakeville Arts Center.

Bavarian Musikmeisters

The Farmington High School German club will present the Bavarian Musikmeisters at 7:30 p.m. April 30 at the FHS auditorium. For more information or to buy tickets call 651-460-1498. Tickets will also be available at the door. Proceeds will support FHS students on a trip to Germany.

May 3

Carriage Festival

Minnesota Whips and Wheels, an organization of horse and carriage enthusiasts, will bring its first Prairie Home Carriage Festival to the Dakota City Heritage Village from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 3. Anyone with a Victorian-era vehicle can display it at the festival. There will also be a parade at 1 p.m. Only Whips and Wheels members can participate in the parade.

The event is free and open to the public.

Music Sunday

Faith United Methodist Church will present Music Sunday at 10:30 a.m. May 17. There will be choir, piano, chimes, children singing and violin music.
