Storytime for all ages

Storytime for all ages will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 17 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. Storytime includes stories and activities meant for mixed-age audiences such as families and childcare groups.

The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet

Live music

Waggin' Tales

Kids can practice their reading skills by reading to trained therapy dogs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 18 at the Dakota County Farmington Library.

MaxaMom 5K

Single mothers and their kids can run a 5K in superhero costume as part of MaxaMom's May 5K event May 18 in Farmington. The run will involve a stop for ice cream at Cow Interrupted somewhere along the route. For information or to RSVP for the free event visit

Benefity for Judy Pilger

There will be a benefit for Farmington resident Judy Pilger from 7 to 11 p.m. May 18 at Celts Pub in Farmington. Pilger was diagnosed in 2011 with a Glioblastoma multiforme tumor. She had two tumors on her brain -- one was operable and the other wasn't. Surgery was performed on the operable tumor at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. She then began radiation, chemotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy. The benefit will include a silent auction, door prizes, walking tacos and all-you-can-drink beer for $10. Farmington Lutheran Church will hold a free spring music concert featuring music director Karissa Dennis at 7 p.m. May 19. The performance will feature organ and piano. The FLC adult vocal and handbell choirs will perform pieces Dennis has arranged. The church is located at 20600 Akin Road.


World War II weekend

The fourth annual Armed Forces Day WWII Weekend will take place May 17-19 at Dakota City Heritage Village. The event will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Entry is $5 with a non-perishable food item and $7 without.
