Woman responding to Craigslist ad found murdered

A 24-year-old woman was found dead in the trunk of her car Friday night in a Burnsville park, according to the Savage Police Department.

Katherine Ann Olson had been in Savage for a babysitting job she found through an Internet classifieds Web site, according to the report.

Savage Police said a 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, where he works. Formal charges are expected Monday, according to the press release.

Olson's body was found around 10 p.m. Friday night at Kraemer Nature Preserve. A Minnesota State Patrol Helicopter spotted her car in the park after being notified by Savage Police that she was reported missing. Her purse had been found earlier Friday in a trash can at Pacer Park in Savage. Police had left a message about the purse at Olson's residence, and her roommate later called them back to let them know that she hadn't seen her since Thursday morning.

This is a very unusual homicide," said Savage Police Capt. Dave Muelken. "I don't have a word to describe the situation; it's very tragic."

Muelken said Olson's parents told him that she graduated at the top of her class, and that she had traveled the world at one point working as a juggler in Argentina. She had previously worked as a nanny for one year, a position she got through the same Internet classifieds Web site -- Craigslist.

No cause of death has been released, according to the press release.
