Thursday fire damages Empire township home

Farmington firefighters prepare to enter a burning house along Highway 3 Thursday afternoon. Cause of the blaze, which damaged a four-plex home, is under investigation.

A fire left extensive smoke and water damage to a Empire four-plex Thursday afternoon.

Farmington firefighters responded to the report of a house fire at the 19500 block of Chippendale Avenue/Highway 3 just after 2 p.m. Thursday. Smoke was visible from the home, which had a brick exterior.

Details of the fire are still under investigation by Farmington fire marshal John Powers. Until the extensive smoke inside the home cleared, Powers could not determine the point of origin or cause of the fire.

ALF/Allina Ambulance and Lakeville and Rosemount fire departments also responded to the scene.

More details will be provided as they become available. Water drips from the ceiling as firefighters attack a fire on the inside of an Empire township home.
