Farmington man killed in Apple Valley crash

A 26-year-old Farmington man was killed and three other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night on Cedar Avenue in Apple Valley.

Innocencio Munoz-Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened shortly before 6 p.m. near McAndrews Road.

Munoz-Gutierrez was a passenger in a GMC Savana driven by 31-year-old Salomon Adorno, also of Farmington. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, they were southbound on Cedar Avenue when they hit a metal guard rail and veered into northbound traffic, where they were hit by a 2007 Chevy Tahoe driven by Jason Bruenig of Lakeville. Bruenig and his wife, 35-year-old Kristi Breunig, received minor injuries in the crash. Their 7-year-old daughter was also in the car but did not have any apparent injuries.

According to the state patrol report Adorno was in critical condition after the accident. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

It is not clear why Adorno's car swerved into the guard rail. There was no evidence of alcohol in the system of anyone involved in the crash.
