Accidents slow traffic on Highway 3

Multiple accidents on Highway 3 between Farmington and Rosemount had traffic moving slowly.

Accidents caused traffic to come to a standstill along Highway 3 south of Farmington late Monday afternoon.

The Dakota County Communications Center has confirmed there was more than one accident between Farmington and Northfield. The Minnesota State Patrol is taking the lead on the accidents, but Farmington police and fire/rescue squads are on the scene for assistance.

One of the accidents near Switzer's Nursery and Landscaping involved a head on collision. The north bound vehicle lost control and slid into a southbound vehicle. The southbound vehicle was driven by a woman, who had a small child with her. The northbound car was driven by a man. Northfield Ambulance transported all three with non-life threatening injuries.

Southbound traffic is reported to have slowed significantly, and stopped in some areas.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
