Farmington clinic offers free heart health screenings
FamilyHealth Medical Clinic will offer free heart health screening at its Farmington clinic by appointment between 6:30 and 8:30 a.m. on Thursday Thursday, Feb. 24. The clinic is located at 4645 Knutsen Drive (Hwy 50 near Denmark Ave.).
Advance registration is required and space is limited. This event has been well attended each year, and space fills quickly. People interested in making an appointment should call the Farmington clinic at 651-460-2300. More information about the clinics, their services and their staff is available at www.familyhealthclinics.org/farmington.
The screening includes a fasting blood draw test for cholesterol, glucose and triglycerides, so patients are advised to consume only clear liquids in the 12 hours prior to their appointment. A light breakfast will be provided after the screening.
The screening also includes a blood pressure check, body mass index measurement and a cardiac risk assessment. All of the data will be compiled and reported back to participants so it can be shared with their primary medical provider. Participants will also receive important educational materials with tips on how to lead a heart-healthy lifestyle.
"Heart health is important to everybody's well-being -- no matter the age," said clinic manager Bob Finke. "We're proud to do our part to encourage a well-balanced, healthy lifestyle and are pleased to provide this free service to the Farmington community."
Heart-health screening appointments are approximately 30 minutes long and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Although the appointments are open to people of any age, adults over the age of 40 are strongly encouraged to consider the screening.
