Search turns up drugs in local home

Dakota County Drug Task Force agents found cash and marijuana when they executed a search warrant March 19 at a Farmington home.

The Dakota County Attorney's office has charged 27-year-old Jeffrey Michael Vankleeck with felony drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, a petty misdemeanor, in connection with the discovery.

Task force agents and officers from the Farmington police department found the door unlocked when they executed the warrant. In the garage they found $1,800 in cash, marijuana paraphernalia, empty baggies, a scale and two baggies of marijuana.

According to a complaint filed last week in the Dakota County Attorney's office, a woman who was home when police executed the warrant told police she "was not surprised" there was marijuana in the garage. She said she'd seen a shoebox filled with marijuana in the garage. The woman told police all of the drug related items belonged to Vankleeck.

Vankleeck was convicted of a fifth degree drug crime in October of 2007. If convicted this time on the same charge he could face up to 10 years in jail and fines of up to $20,000. The drug paraphernalia charge has a maximum fine of $300.
