Farmington teen charged with burglary after getting drunk and rowdy

A 19-year-old Farmington man who told police he got drunk and went out to “be rowdy” has been charged with burglary after he allegedly stole a phone, a lighter and some cigarettes from a garage in the city.

Farmington police arrested Levi William Annis March 12 after a homeowner reported chasing two people out of his garage. The homeowner told police he and his girlfriend had been smoking in the garage and had left the door partially open.

Police found Annis walking nearby. He had come out of a nearby field and was wet. When they searched him, police found cigarettes and a lighter similar to those described by the homeowner. They also found two cell phones, one of which the homeowner identified as his.

According to a complaint filed in the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, Annis told police he “got drunk and made stupid decisions.” He mentioned several times that he was drunk.

If convicted on a felony burglary charge, Annis could face up to 20 years in jail and fines of up to $35,000.
