Man charged with domestic assault

A Farmington man has been charged with domestic assault after reports he got into a fight with his girlfriend early on the morning of May 29.

According to a complaint filed last week in the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, Randy Lee Eidsness, 45, got into a fight with his girlfriend. The woman’s daughter, who is pregnant, told police she tried to break up the fight but that Eidsness pushed her.

When police arrived, they found Eidsness pinned between the bed and the wall by his girlfriend’s mother. The woman told police she was trying to protect her daughter. She said Eidsness had pulled her daughter by the hair. Another witness told police something similar.

Eidsness was convicted of fifth degree assault in 2007 and of domestic assault in 2009. If convicted on either of two felony charges of domestic assault this time he could face up to five years in jail and fines of up to $10,000.
