New speech and theater groups are forming in Farmington
Several new arts opportunities have been created for Farmington students and community members.
The Farmington speech team has been accepted into the National Forensic League and students have an opportunity to qualify for Nationals this year in Dallas, Texas. There will be a meeting for former speech members and new members/families: Dec. 1, 2010. The team is open to students grades 9-12
The team is coached by Rick Halley and Lori Constable
A new middle school speech team is also in the making. Students in grades 6-8 are invited to learn more about this new program which will be coached by award winning coach Anna Jo Miller with cooperation from FHS speech coach Rick Halley.
Students can participate in any of the following events: Duet Acting (with a partner), Prose, Drama, Poetry, Creative Expression, Great Speeches, Extemp Reading, Extemp Speaking, Discussion (A friendlier form of "debate"), Informative, Original Oratory (Persuasive), Humorous Prose and Storytelling.
The program starts the first week in December.

The new theater will serve all ages and allow people of all ages to audition and participate. Farmington Community Theater would likely be a collaboration between community education and Farmington Schools.
