Farmington Area Education Foundation names grant winners

The Farmington Area Education Foundation has selected four projects to receive more than $5,000 in grants for the 2014-15 school year.

Riverview Elementary has been awarded $340 to go toward the purchase of hands-on manipulatives to aid in the teaching of math, science and engineering for kindergarten through fifth grade students.

Media specialists from across District 192 applied jointly for $1,800 to expand the current collections of electronic books for each school. By continuing to build the book libraries, media centers will further be able to promote digital equity and reading enjoyment across the district.

Farmington High School was awarded $2,500 for the purchase of several canoes, paddles and life jackets to be used in creating an outdoor learning space at FHS. This project will allow for students to supplement their classroom lessons with experiences in the field.

FHS has also been awarded $1,000 to aid in the creation of a new live broadcasting program. This new program would allow students to reach the community through the live broadcast of events such as sporting events, concerts, along with various other district and community events.

The purpose of the Farmington Area Education Foundation is to enhance and serve the community by supporting and enriching education and learning opportunities for students in grades K-12 in District 192. Visit for information about volunteering or providing financial support for the foundation.
