Farmington schools issue a safety alert after someone reportedly took pictures of students

The Farmington School District issued a safety notice to families Friday morning after someone apparently tried to take photos of students as they walked to Farmington Elementary School.

According to the notice, two students were walking to school when a car slowed down and someone in it took photos. The students reported the incident to the school when they arrived and the school reported it to police. Police plan to patrol the area more frequently.

The district asked parents to remind their students never to accept a ride from strangers.

The full notice from the district is as follows:

Please be advised, this morning on the way to school two of our students had a car slow down and take pictures of them near Farmington Elementary. Our students did the right thing and immediately reported what had happened to the school. The incident was reported to police. They have looked into the issue and will be patrolling the area more. Please remind your children to never accept a ride from any strangers, and to walk with other students if possible. We want you to be aware of this incident and to report any suspicious vehicles or persons by calling 911. Thank you for your vigilance.
