Farmington teen injured in Monday head-on crash

A Farmington teen was seriously injured after a head-on collision near New Prague late Monday afternoon.

According to an accident report by the Minnesota State Patrol, 18-year-old Justin M. Nelson was traveling eastbound on Highway 19 near New Prague. Nelson’s 1995 Honda Accord crossed the center line of the highway near Church Avenue, approximately four miles west of New Prague.

Nelson collided head-on with a westbound 2000 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by 35-year-old Elizabeth S. Alvarez of Le Sueur. Alverez also received serious injuries, according to the report.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m.

Nelson and Alvarez were both airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center.
