Sandra Elaine "Sandi" Smith, 69

Sandi Smith, age 69, formerly of Rosemount, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2017.

Preceded in death by her son, Aaron; brother, Sonny; and parents, Marshal and Rubye.

She is survived by son Adam (Candace); two grandsons, Eli and Cullen, sisters, Julie and Betsy; and many dear friends and relatives.

In 1971, Sandi ended her jewelry sales job at the Minneapolis Dayton's store to start a family. She was a stay-at-home mom, raising her two boys, mending wounds, feeding and keeping a watchful eye on the unusually large number of same-age boys growing up in the Chippendale Park area of Rosemount. Enough boys to field a football team and frequently that's exactly what they did. In the 70's, when her sons got older, she worked part-time ringing up Rosemount's finest meats and groceries at Duffy's Meat Market.

Rosemount residents in the 80's who sought legal counsel at Hansen, McMenomy Law Firm may remember her as the receptionist greeting them with a kind word and a friendly smile. By the 90's, she worked at the Campbell Knutson Law Firm in Eagan and then briefly worked at Gresser Companies until 2002. At this time, signs of dementia started to impact her life and health, yet she always kept a positive attitude and had a giving, selfless spirit. She worked for Visiting Angels and also adopted older dogs in poor health, lovingly caring for them until the end.

The family would like to thank the staff at Apple Valley Villa and Augustana Care and the remarkable social workers from Dakota County. They helped keep this selfless soul maximizing her diminishing abilities through these last few years.

Per Sandi's wishes, there will be no memorial service. Instead, a Sunday breakfast on April 23rd is planned. Please contact her son Adam for details. Memorial's preferred to Last Hope, Inc., 431 3rd St., #3, Farmington, MN 55024
