Richard "Dick" Godfrey, 90

Richard "Dick" Godfrey, father of five, owner of Dick's Red Owl, Great-Grandfather, Grandfather and beloved friend of Farmington, Minn., passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years young, on July 22, 2017.

For years, Dick was a franchise owner of a Red Owl Grocery store in Farmington. He had a passion for working in the grocery industry and supporting the local shoppers in his community. Even after retirement, it wasn't uncommon to see see Dick roaming around a new grocery store, taking in all the modern changes.

Dick was recognized for the contributions to the different organizations in his community to which he belonged or volunteered. For many years, he could be seen taking tickets at the Grandstand events at the Dakota County Fair. Dick was a generous, kind, helpful, considerate and caring person. What he truly loved the most was being surrounded by his family, nothing made him happier.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; brothers, Vern and Jack.

Survived by his brother, Bill; his children, Joe (Cindy), MaryJo (Don), Jim (Barb), Cindy (Randy) and Punky. He was also the grandfather of 4, and great-grandfather of 6. Dick will be greatly missed, but all the wonderful memories will always remain.

Memorial Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 22120 Denmark Ave. Farmington, MN. Visitation starting at 9 a.m. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery.
