Kenneth "Kenny" Vogel
Kenneth "Kenny" Vogel of Silver Bay, MN passed away August 16.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Snyder; his daughter, Kristin Vogel; his son, Tony Vogel; his parents, Wilfred and Caryl Vogel; and his siblings, Bob Vogel, Mary Christiansen, and Janet Freeman.
Ken was born June 9, 1960, in New Prague, Minn. He grew up in his hometown of New Market, Minn., until he ventured onto Vermillion Community College in Ely, Minn., to receive his degree in Natural Resource Technologies and later attended law enforcement academy in Rochester, Minn. Ken was employed as a police officer and detective for the city of Blaine, Minn., for 10 years, until he retired due to medical injuries. Ken was married to his wife, Ann, on Aug. 11, 2012 at a ceremony at their home in Silver Bay, Minn.
Ken was a recreational hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors along the North Shore of Lake Superior. Ken worked as a writer for the Lake County News-Chronicle out of Two Harbors, and also loved writing poetry and prayers in his spare time. He enjoyed spending his time creating new cooking recipes, and tending to his many bird feeders, along with his dogs, Sammy and Gus. Ken will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 24 from 5-7 p.m. at White Funeral Home in Lakeville, Minn. Funeral service will be Friday, Aug. 25 at 11 a.m. at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Minnesota Nongame Wildlife Program. (MN DNR)
