Letter to the editor: Patriotic Day was appreciated

To the editor,

I want to acknowledge everyone that gives of their time to put on the Patriotic Day at the Farmington High School. On Nov. 7 a dinner was served by many, many volunteers to veterans in and around the area. I don’t have the exact number but it must have been well over a thousand. Vietnam vets were then honored in the auditorium with a wonderful and moving program as has been in the past with World War II and Korean vets.

Thank you all for giving of your time and talents to honor these great service women and men that gave so much for us.

I also want to acknowledge Michelle Leonard, journalist for the Farmington Independent. She did a super job in covering all aspects of this day past and present. The featured stories of our vets that appeared in the paper were so nicely written that it made me proud that I know those that she wrote about.

Finally, thank you all veterans active and retired. You are the heart of this great country.

Marcia Gamer,
