Tennis: Cline rallies against New Prague

Ben Cline overcame a 1-6 opening-set loss to pick up what turned out to be Farmington's lone win in a 6-1 match loss to New Prague last Thursday in New Prague.

Cline won his next two sets 7-6(2) and 6-0 to earn the victory at No. 2 singles. Blake Olmsheid did just the opposite at No. 3 singles, winning 6-1 before falling 0-6, 1-6. Seth Roberts was competitive in a 1-6, 5-7 loss at No. 1 singles and Mitch Bostrom was on the brink of victory in a 4-6, 4-6 setback.

Two of the three doubles matches were also close, but all three went to New Prague in straight sets.

"It could best be described as an odd match," Farmington head coach Jack Olwell said. "This was a match we could have won if we had done everything right. We did a lot of things well, but not quite enough."

The Tigers were back at home Friday where they were dealt a 7-0 blanking by Holy Angels.

Simon Lindstrom and Jeff Zakoski once again accounted for the closest match at No. 2 doubles where they lost 1-6, 6-4, 1-6.
