Swimming: Swimmers 2nd at St. Paul

The Farmington swimming and diving team made a splash at the Marauder Invite at St. Catherine's College Saturday.

The Tigers opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay and freshman Kaitlyn O'Reilly went on to win two individual races, helping the team to a second-place finish out of 15 teams. Mounds View ran away with the team title in the true team scoring format with 1,608.5 points, but the Tigers topped the rest of the field with 1,172.5 points.

O'Reilly was a big reason why. She opened by joining Elizabeth Wolfe, Caitlin Kracke and Ellie Sundet for a winning time of 1 minute, 57.02 seconds in the 200 medley relay that topped runner-up Mounds View by 76-hundredths of a second.

O'Reilly added a victorious time of 2:16.13 in the 200 individual medley and also led a 100 backstroke where four Tiger swimmers placed in the top 10. O'Reilly won the event in 1:01.37, Kirsten Kracke followed in second, Robin Ellis placed sixth and Delaney Wright came in 10th, helping the team accumulate 138 points.

O'Reilly closed out the meet by joining Sundet, Caitlin Kracke and Kirsten Kracke for a second-place time of 3:51.66 in the 400 freestyle relay.

Caitlin Kracke also placed fourth in the 50 freestyle in 26.04 and fifth in the 100 freestyle in 57.53.

Kirsten Kracke claimed fifth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:06.81 and teamed up with Biff Donner, Sarah O'Reilly and Abby Haugen for a fourth-place showing in the 200 freestyle relay.

Haugen was also ninth in a 100 breaststroke where teammate Wolfe placed second with a time of 1:11.44.

In the 500 freestyle, Sara Kintner gave the Tigers 35 points with a fourth-place time of 5:38.26.

The Tigers compete again tonight in a home meet against Chaska at Dodge Middle School.
