Swimming and diving: Tigers improve to 6-2 in duals

The Farmington girls swimming and diving team improved its dual meet record to 6-2 by edging Chaska 92-91 in a Missota Conference clash last Thursday at the Chaska Middle School East pool.

Kaitlyn O'Reilly was part of three first-place finishes, starting with a winning time of 2 minutes, 18.76 seconds in the 200 individual medley. She then joined freshmen Kirsten Kracke, Ellie Sundet and Zoe Avestruz for a first-place 1:45.08 clocking in the 200 freestyle relay before claiming the 100 backstroke in 1:02.57.

Avestruz added a top finish of her own in the 200 freestyle relay where she clocked in at 2:04.20. Kracke followed that up with a winning time of 26.54 in the 50 freestyle.

Chaska won seven of the meet's 12 events, but the Tigers made up the difference by placing second in nine events. Cora Ruzicka contributed runner-up finishes in the 200 individual medley, 500 freestyle relay and with Avestruz, Hannah Seitzinger and Chelsea Gehrke as part of the 400 freestyle relay.

The foursome of Kracke, Sundet, O'Reilly and Abby Haugen opened the meet by placing second in the 200 medley relay.

Other runner-up showings were turned in by Haugen in the 50 freestyle, Kendall Novak in the 1-meter dive, Avestruz in the 100 butterfly, Kracke in the 100 freestyle and Robin Ellis in the 100 backstroke.
