Habeck named Freshman of the Year

The American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Teams were released last Monday with Concordia predominantly featured. Megan Carlson (Andover, Minn.), Kayla Koenecke (Delano, Minn.) and Amanda Konetchy (Victoria, Minn.) were all named to the first team. Katie Habeck, a 2011 Farmington graduate, was named to the second team and the AVCA National Freshman of the Year.

With four All-Americans on the team this year it marks fourth straight year with at least four AVCA All-Americans. All in all Concordia now has 36 AVCA All-Americans since 2003. Habeck's selection as National Freshman of the Year marks the fourth time since 2006 that Concordia has had the National Freshman of the Year.

The No. 3 Golden Bears advanced to the NCAA Division II Final Four for the fifth straight time on Thursday afternoon sweeping No. 6 Central Missouri 25-14, 25-23, 25-23 on the campus of Cal State San Bernardino. Habeck led the team with15 kills, a career high, and hit .480 on the night. Video highlights of the match can be seen here:?
