Boys track: Taubenheim, 4x8, 4x4 place second for FHS

Justin Hett scored in both the long jump and triple jump at the Missota Conference Championships.

The Farmington boys and girls track teams accumulated their points in very different ways at Friday's Missota Conference Championships.

While the girls were scoring big in a few events, and none in several others, to earn a second-place team finish, the boys were scoring a few points in just about every event while placing sixth with 82 points at Tiger Stadium.

Chanhassen won the conference championship 206 ½-142 ½ over runner-up Shakopee.

The Tigers scored in 17 of the meet's 18 events - they went without a point in the 1,600 - and notched three second-place finishes.

Tyler Lerbakken and Chad Retterath were part of runner-up efforts in both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays. They joined Eric Stoeckman and Justin Hyytinen for a second-place finish in the 4x800 and closed out the meet by teaming up with Tanner Grubb and Tommy Weigel for a season-best time of 3:29.76 in the 4x400.

Also earning a silver medal for the Tigers was Reid Taubenheim in the pole vault.

Other top-five finishes went to CJ Wynings in the discus (4th), Bret Hoffman in the shot put (4th), Justin Hett in the long jump (5th), Hyytinen in the 3,200 (5th) and the 4x100 relay.

Hett made it a scoring double with a seventh-place finish in the triple jump and Dan Berg was seventh in the 110 hurdles and ninth in the high jump.

Grubb and Lerbakken added an 8-9 finish in the open 400. Stockman's eighth-place finish paced Farmington in the 800 and Jack Erickson was eighth in the 100. Weigel added a ninth-place showing in the 200.

Nehemiah Rockett paced the Tigers in the 300 hurdles with a sixth-place finish.

The team is back in action this week at the Section 1AA Championships at Lakeville South.
