The Farmington gymnastics team got healthy and hit its stride just in time to post its best score of the season at Friday's Section 3AA Championships in Eagan.

The Tigers, ranked 16th in the state, bested their regular season average score by nearly three points with a 140.525. They finished third out of eight teams behind meet champion Park (145.65) and second-place Rosemount (143.45).

Kiana Lord led the Tigers in the all-around throughout the season and did it again on Friday. She finished fifth with a total score of 35.126 -- just missing a state berth by one place -- and qualified in an individual event for the second time in her career with a third-place score of 9.625 in the floor exercise. Lord was also sixth in the bars, seventh in the vault and 10th in the balance beam.

Lord will be joined at state by first-time qualifier Kylie Wharton. The sophomore will compete in the balance beam after placing third with a score of 8.975. Wharton was also ninth in the floor exercise.

Tahra Eckert just missed a state berth in the vault, placing fifth against a talented field with a score of 9.425. She was also 10th in the bars and eighth in the all-around.

The individual portion of the Class 2A state meet gets under way at 6 p.m. Saturday at the University of Minnesota.
