Farmington tennis wins three straight

Three straight wins by a combined score of 20-1 have the Farmington boys tennis team back at the .500 mark.

The Tigers followed 7-0 shutouts of Bloomington Kennedy and New Prague with a 6-1 decision on the road at Faribault Friday afternoon.

Bennett Lagro led a singles sweep of the Falcons with a 7-5, 6-3 win at the No. 1 spot. Jake Bauer raised his record to 5-3 with a 6-1, 6-0 stroll at No. 2 singles and Ivan Rodriguez won 6-1, 6-1, improving his record to 6-2.

Jake Spindler added a forfeit at No. 4 singles.

The No. 2 doubles team of Gavin Renwick and Cooper Erickson played to a 6-3, 6-2 win and Garrett Brown and Grady Hauswirth breezed 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.

Lagro, Bauer, Rodriguez and Jon Zakoski all won their matches in straight sets in the Tigers’ 7-0 sweep of New Prague last Tuesday.

In doubles play, the tandems of Trent Kortenbusch and Austin Tremmel and Renwick and Erickson both won in three sets.
