Eugene A. Clendenen, age 59, of Winter, Wis., died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at his home. Eugene Allen was born on July 14, 1951, in Bowman, N.D., the son of Lynn and Dorothy (Bublitz) Clendenen. His family lived in Rhame, N.D. until age six, then moved to Miles City, Mont. Eugene graduated high school in Miles City. In 1970 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War, then served in the Army Reserves until 1976. After the military he returned to Miles City.
Ervin P. Peine, age 78, of Vermillion, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Ervin was born Dec. 30, 1931, in Empire Township, to Henry Sr. and Margaret (Wollmering) Peine. He attended St. Mary's Parochial School in New Trier and served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. Ervin married Lorraine Werner on June 2, 1956, in Hampton.
Dorothy Ann Empey, age 76, of Northfield, passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at the Reflections Unit of the Three Links Care Center in Northfield. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the First Presbyterian Church, 625 Heritage Way, Farmington. A gathering of family and friends will take place 1 hour prior to service at church. Scott H. Holmberg, 66, died surrounded by the love of his family Sept. 1, 2010, in Escondido, Calif., after a long battle with cancer. Scott was born Oct. 14, 1943, to George and Sally Holmberg, Russell, Minn. In 1950, Scott moved to Farmington, Minn. His love of electronics began with 4 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, achieving the rank of ET1. In 1967, Scott married Anna Marie McGuire of Dearborn Heights, Mich. While working for Energy Conversion Devices in Troy, Mich., he graduated from Detroit's Wayne State University with an EE degree.
Daniel "Danny" Clay, the former publisher of Thisweek Newspapers and the Dakota County Tribune, died at his home in Lakeville on Sept. 8, 2010. He was 58. Funeral service was Sunday, Sept. 12, at the White Funeral Home Chapel, Lakeville, 952-469-2723, with visitation prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated to Hope Chest News.
Arthur "Art" Hogfoss, 85, formerly of Farmington, Minn., died Sunday, August 22, 2010, at his home in Mesa, Ariz. There will be a private military burial Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Valley of the Sun Memorial Park, Chandler, Ariz. A memorial service will be held at White Funeral Home in Farmington at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 1, followed by a celebration of Art's life at VFW Hall 7662 in Farmington. Charles Joseph Schaeffer, age 93, of Farmington, formerly of Minneapolis, died August 28, 2010. Marlys Hohrman, age 81, of Northfield, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls, Minn. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Northfield with burial at the Northfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and at the church on Saturday 1 hour prior to services. Marlys Pauline Hohrman was born Oct. 1, 1928, on the family farm near Dennison, Minn., daughter of Ed and Arlin (Larson) Holt. Her first years were spent near Dennison and she began school in Dennison.
Mabel Jenny Storlie, age 93, of Lakeville, formerly of Farmington, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2010, surrounded by her family at home. Memorial service was Saturday, August 28, at Christiania Lutheran Church, Lakeville, with a gathering of family and friends held prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Christiania Lutheran Church or Last Hope, Inc., companion pet rescue, of Farmington. The family wishes to thank the staff at Centennial House, Saint Jude Hospice, Fairview Southdale and Aceracare Hospice for all the care and love they gave Mabel.
Derek Lee "Rick" Gilmer, age 46, of Castle Rock, died on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis following a serious cardiac arrest on Saturday at the Gilmer family cabin on Knife Lake. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 27, at the Crossroads Church, 17671 Glacier Way, Lakeville, Minn. Interment took place at the Greenvale Cemetery in Castle Rock. Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m.
