Wesley Lewis Best was born Feb. 21, 1923, in Rochester, Minn., to Edwin and Josephine (Mercedes) Best. In 1952, he graduated from Kauffman High School in Rochester. Wes was very musically talented and during and after High School played the trumpet in his own band. After his education he worked in Rochester and for a short time in Minneapolis. In 1947, Wes partnered with his father and they bought a farm in Wisconsin. After selling the farm a few years later, he moved to Hastings. In 1951, he moved to Farmington and began working at Norquist and McPhee Funeral Home and Furniture.
Earl Eugene Shellenbarger, 77, passed away on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, in St. Louis Park, Minn. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at the White Funeral Home Chapel in Farmington with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment immediately following at Corinthian Cemetery, Farmington.
Eugene Tutewohl, 86 Jan. 24, 2010 Eugene Joseph Tutewohl, age 86, of Cannon Falls, and a lifelong resident of Dakota and Goodhue Counties, died on Sunday evening, Jan. 24, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Eugene was born on Feb. 20, 1923, in Farmington, the second child and first son of Joseph and Margaret (Huckenpahler) Tutewohl. He grew up in the Farmington area and attended country school through the 8th grade, when he left because he was needed to work on his parent's farm. He entered the U.S. Army in 1946 and served in occupied Japan overseas.
Clara Schiller, age 78, of Hampton, Minn., died peacefully on Jan. 21, 2010. Preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; siblings, Ray, Al, Lee, Marcella; son-in-law, Jim Carson. Survived by her children, Jane Carson, Ken (Kathy), Kathy (Ron) Gulberg, Carol (Mike) Anhalt, Ron (Tammie), Dave (Sue), Janet Sande (Doug Heart), Sharon (Randy) Grilz, Rick (Kim), and Bob Schiller; 26 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Frances (Susan) Wellman, Andrew (Florene) Wellman, and Gertrude Endres; sisters-in-law, Wilma and Evelyn; also by other loving relatives and friends.
Richard E. "Dick" Dubbels, age 62, of Farmington, passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 25, 2010. Dick was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirleyann, and parents, Clarence and Esther Dubbels. Survived by his loving children, Robert (Krista) and Jennifer (Eric) Rasmussen; grandchildren, Tyler and Samantha Dubbels and Tony and Zack Rasmussen; also by siblings, Ken (Barb), Vern, Fred, Dave (Odessa), John (Beverly Stumberg), Art (Janet), Kathy (Larry) Huff, Jennifer (Joe) Bidwal, Charlie (Lori) and Elizabeth (Pete) Lamberty; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
J. Raymond Juvland, age 83, of Farmington, passed away Jan. 18, 2010. Ray served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine; siblings, Quinton and Linda. Survived by his wife, Daisy; children, Kenneth, Sandra (Frank) Allen, Steve (Pat), and Harlan; stepchildren, Sandra (Kris) Offerdahl and Dawn Quinnell; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Donna, Darlene, Dennis, Janice, and Judy; sister-in-law, Diane; also by other loving relatives and friends.
Lois H. Carey, age 84, resident of Hopkins, Minn., formerly of Farmington, Minn., passed away Jan. 20, 2010. Preceded in death by parents, Roy and Lucy Harmer; brother, Donald; husband, William Carey. Survived by sister, Hazel Pietsch; daughter, Deborah, and family. Memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Faith United Methodist Church, 710 Eighth St., Farmington, MN 55024. Mary Ann Gilomen, age 92, a long-time resident of Farmington, Minn., passed away on Jan. 3, 2010, in Ocala, Fla. Mary Ann Gilomen, the daughter of Gilbert and Mabel (Law) Lindesmith, was born on Oct. 26, 1917, in Northfield. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1934 and attended Carlton College for a year. On June 29, 1935, she was married to Harold Gilomen and they settled on a small farm in Castle Rock.

Larry Dean Lace, 59, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis. Larry was the oldest son of Richard Q. and Elda (Guildner) Lace of Castle Rock. Larry's family will be celebrating his life with friends and family during a visitation from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and again at a funeral at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9th, at the Castle Rock United Methodist Church. Larry was born on July 5, 1950,in Northfield, Minn.
