Update: One dead, another injured in Dakota County house explosion

Authorities recovered a body from the debris of a house explosion Tuesday morning, Feb. 5, 2019, in the 24000 block of Lewiston Boulevard, in Hampton Township, according to the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and Randolph/Hampton firefighters responded to the residence around 6 a.m. Tuesday after reports of an explosion that could be heard as far away as Hastings and Farmington, according to a news release. First responders arrived to find a man with severe burns wandering the scene.
The man reportedly told authorities he was looking for his wife. The man and his wife were believed to be the only occupants of the house at the time of the explosion, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The man was taken to the Regions Hospital Burn Center in St. Paul.
The identity of the man and woman were withheld pending notification of family.
According to the news release:
“The Sheriff’s Office wishes to extend their sincere condolences to all touched by this tragic event. Identification of the victims will be released once confirmed and family members are notified. We ask for your patience during this investigation while investigators attempt to determine the cause of the explosion.”
