Farmington boys' swimming falls to Shakopee to end regular season

The Farmington Tigers boys' swimming and diving team had their last regular season dual meet on Feb. 5 before the Section 1AA meet. They hosted the Shakopee Sabres at Levi Dodge Middle School and ended up falling 97-89. The Tigers won five of the 12 events including two of the relays. Below are the results:

The winners were the 200-yard medley relay team of junior Seth Krause, freshman Brandon Wilcek, and seniors Zach Nelson and Ben Moorlach with a time of 1 minute, 39.86 seconds; Krause in the one-meter dive with a score of 237.50 (just one-tenth of a point ahead of Shakopee's Erik Dahl); Nelson in the 500 freestyle in 4:57.27; the 200 freestyle relay team of Moorlach, Krause, junior Ethan Hanes and senior Eric Heddinger (1:29.22) and Wilcek in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.12.

Runners-up were Nelson in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.19, Moorlach in the 50 freestyle in 23.03 and Krause in the 100 butterfly (54.56). Heddinger took second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.12, Moorlach in the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.18 and 400 freestyle relay team of Heddinger, Nelson, Hanes and senior Noah Budde (3:20.48).

Finally, taking third were Heddinger in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.00, Hanes in the 200 individual medley in 2:07.22 and Budde in the 50 freestyle (23.39). Then there was Hanes in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.15, senior Seth Miller in the 100 freestyle in 52.76 and 52.76 and the 200 freestyle relay team of Budde, Miller, Wilcek and senior Evan Thorn (1:36.69).

This past Saturday, the competed in a diving invitational at Hastings Middle School and they will attend another diving invitational on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Dakota Hills Middle School. The Section 1AA meet is Feb. 20-22 at the Rochester Recreation Center in Rochester.
